What a treasure! This item really captivated Mark Hall-Patton when he appeared on Picker Road! This original 1834 Land Grand for 500 acres of land in the fabricated country of Poyais was created by Scottish con artist Gregor McGregor and sold to perspective settlers in the UK. This story is absolutely incredible and this is one of the few surviving original land grand deeds!
Paper exhibits the wear expected in a piece that is nearly 200 years old. Handwriting including McGregor's is bold and the printing is in amazing condition.
The last recorded example of one in far worse condition sold at auction for over $2500.00!!!
